Development of a Household Vehicle Ownership and Fleet Composition

Dr. Bhat serves as a Co-PI for this Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) funded project, in collaboration with Dr. Ram Pendyala (Arizona State University). The overall goal of the project is to develop a household vehicle ownership model system that is capable of simultaneously simulating the mix of vehicle types in each household, evolving a base year fleet over time for forecasting purposes, and computing the amount of mileage that will be accrued on an annual basis on each vehicle. The vehicle fleet composition simulator is intended to provide a robust method for analyzing the impacts of a wide variety of scenarios on household vehicle ownership and use patterns.
