Welcome to my webpage! In this page you will find information about my academic and professional background, and research on hydrologic modeling using GIS.

In October 1996, I earned the Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. My dissertation topic was Spatially Distributed Modeling of Storm Runoff and Non-Point Source Pollution Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and I tested my model with Austin, Texas, data. My research supervisors were Dr. David R. Maidment and Dr. Randall J. Charbeneau of the Civil Engineering Department.

I graduated as Civil Engineer at the Catholic University of Peru in Lima (1981), obtained the Diploma in Hydraulic Engineering with Distinction at the International Institute for Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering (IHE) in Delft, The Netherlands, (1983), and the Master of Science Degree in Hydraulic Engineering with Distinction also at the IHE (1988).

In Peru, I worked for 12 years at the Catholic University, where I was Professor of the Department of Engineering (Area of Hydraulics). During those years, I did community service research projects and consulting jobs that involved hydraulic design as well as field work in rural areas.
